STE. GENEVIEVE, Missouri – On Friday May 18, 2007, The Scott Foundation will introduce a new family of exotic cats at Crown Ridge Tiger Sanctuary. Crown Ridge Tiger Sanctuary is now home to four tigers and one lion.

The event, hosted at Crown Ridge, will feature a 6:00 p.m. ribbon cutting, hors d’oeuvres, live music, and chance to get up-close-and-personal with these majestic animals. During a tour around the perimeter of the outside enclosures, guests will learn various lion and tiger facts, while getting a chance to see each animal.

Program Coordinator, Christina Kimerle, notes, “We have been working very hard preparing the facility and the animals for public viewing. We are excited to open our doors to the general public and begin working on our goal of education. The staff and the animals of Crown Ridge Tiger Sanctuary are eager to meet you.”

Crown Ridge Tiger Sanctuary will have two tour options for the public to view these spectacular animals and also a new Living Classroom. The Living Classroom is filled with replica skulls, teeth, claws, and bones to touch and compare. A presentation will be given including topics of training, habitats, conservation efforts, animal observation, and basic facts. Each presentation will be followed by a hands-on classroom activity.

The Sanctuary is a USDA approved facility with USDA approved caretakers, meeting a set of standards as outlined by the USDA and the Animal Welfare Act. This allows Crown Ridge to open the Sanctuary to the public and ensures that the animals are receiving the best care possible and that the caretakers and guests are safe. The Scott Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation, uses all proceeds from tiger tours to pay for food, veterinary care, supplies, and other associated costs of the facility.

Crown Ridge is a 55-acre estate located in Ste. Genevieve, MO, and it is home to Crown Ridge Tiger Sanctuary, Tiger Ridge Restaurant and three bed and breakfasts. The Sanctuary will be open to the public starting May 19, 2007. For more information on tours please contact Crown Ridge at 573-883-9909.
