Chardonel -- Dry, White
Smooth, dry and fruity, Chardonel is Missouri's most popular white wine. It was first hybridized from its famous parents, Chardonnay and Seyval Blanc, in upstate New York, in 1953. It was introduced to the Missouri River Valley in the '70s. Ours is fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged in Missouri Oak barrels while the flavors of pear and citrus mature. The Oak gives our Chardonel a smoky flavor, which compliments, but does not overpower, the fruit. There is an elusive hint of pineapple lurking in the aftertaste. We named this wine after Zeus the Mystery Cat whose picture adorns each bottle. Zeus has not yet tasted our Chardonel, but we're sure he would like it. Many people just like Chardonel for 'sippin', and it also goes well with light meats like chicken and fish. It's a perfect warm weather wine.
