Profile
Montelle Winery has a rich history. The winery has played an important role in the remarkable rebirth of Missouri winemaking and the Augusta Wine District. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, a few pioneering souls began to refurbish the old vineyards and winery buildings of Missouri’s premier wine-growing regions. One of these pioneers was Clayton Byers, who founded Montelle Vineyards in 1970.
Situated high atop Osage Ridge, 400 feet above the Missouri River, Montelle is in the Augusta Appellation Wine District. With a glorious view of the Missouri River, the village of Augusta and the surrounding wine-growing region, and with a wonderful array of wines to please any palette, Montelle is the perfect place for a weekend visit.
Missouri’s most scenic winery boasts a spectacular terrace, the Klondike Cafe, Sunset Dinners from May to Sept, free live entertainment from April to October, free wine tasting, distilled spirits, a gift shop, Starbucks, wireless internet access, and facility rentals.
