Majestically perched high on the bluffs overlooking the Missouri River, with acres of vineyards gently sloping toward the river.
A fabulous drive under a canopy of hardwoods leads to the most scenic of all the wineries. Come see for yourself what OakGlenn has to offer.
Back in the mid 1800s, on the site where OakGlenn Winery stands today, internationally renowned horticulturist George Husmann planted some grape vines. Mr. Husmann is noted for being an early pioneer in establishing the wine industry in America from Missouri to California.
Five rows of original Norton (a.k.a. Cynthiana) vines planted by Mr. Husmann have been nurtured and tended by the new owners and are still producing. Approximately 3000 additional vines were planted of other varieties. Because this had not been an active winery since prohibition, a major renovation was necessary to bring it forward to the state-of-the-art facility it is today. However, the massive stone wine cellar constructed in the 1800’s remains intact.
